This is one of those things that brings us back to the old days when the East was a stone wall and the West was a stone wall. A lot of times I have to stop and think of how I’m going to move my house, or how I’m going to make the most out of my house if it’s too far away from the road and I’m missing my car.
Nowadays with the Internet, most of us don’t even have to stop and think. We can just look, and the internet has brought us all over the map. Most of us would be happy to have the Internet everywhere, but the reality is that we have to make choices about exactly where to put it.
The most obvious example of this is Google. If you have an existing website, you can probably get the majority of your content on Google. If you have a new website, you may want to go for a different format. You might want to get some content on Amazon, or Google Search. Those are the “real” online shops. There are also plenty of services like LinkedIn and Facebook that give you a lot of the same functionality but are easier to access.
The problem is that you don’t want to be spending a lot of money (like $100,000 or more) to get a lot of content into your new website. It’s really hard to get traffic to a site that way. If you’re starting a new website, you can always get all the content you need into a content farm, but it will take a while for that content to be indexed and to be accessible by search engines.
If you want to make sure your new website doesn’t get crawled by search engines, you can always hire a professional coder to do the crawling for you. Thats the most affordable option, but a professional coder is a big investment.
You can take the same approach to your new website. You can hire a professional coder, but it can take a while for the content to be indexed and to be accessible by search engines.
That cost may seem expensive since so many websites get crawled by search engines, but it is worth it. If you have some code that grabs a few hundred keywords and runs through their algorithm, then yes, your site will get crawled, but your site will also gain some SEO.
But while it is possible to crawl your site, it’s much less costly to hire someone to do it for you. It can be an hour or two of work, but it is well worth it. If you were to hire someone to crawl your site, they would likely crawl your site a few hours after your site was indexed and crawled (probably not until a few days after that).
One of the ways that SEO is paid back is by link-building. Because Google doesn’t crawl your site to check for keywords, they build links to your site. They will crawl your site for keywords and then link back to your site. When a new visitor from Google links to your site, your site gets a bit of SEO back as well.
